Manasvi Noel of Toronto is crowned by Miss India-Canada 2015 by Bollywood star Preity Zinta.  The Miss India-Canada pageant is the biggest Indian beauty pageant in North America and it celebrated it’s 25th anniversary. The event happened in Toronto, Ontario.  Sharon Philipose from Ottawa-Gatineau was the 1st runner-up and Kajill Kaur Aujla from Calgary was the second runner-up.  Manasvi Noel was also crowned by Annu Gaidhu, Miss India-Canada 2014.

Manasvi Noel is a communications student and belly dance instructor.  She has won a brand new Chevrolet Spark among other prizes.  In the talent round of the pageant, she won hearts with her dance.  In the final round, she was asked whether selfies are a sign of self-obsession.  She said selfies are a great means to show yourself to the world.  “With selfies, we tell what we have got…”, said Manasvi Noel.  Her victory was highly applauded since she was the home-town girl.

Tanpreet Parmar from Delta in British Columbia won Miss Photogenic.  Priya Sharma from Winnipeg won Miss Congeniality.  Kajill Kaur Aujla from Calgary won Chevrolet Spark Award for Best Performance.  Meghna Patel from Mississauga won Air Canada People’s Choice Award.  She has got two economy class tickets to India on the airline which is starting direct flights to New Delhi later this year.

Preity Zinta wore a dark pink empire silhoutte gown with cape and looked totally hot.  She was looking better than the saree-clad winners!  She expressed her liking for Toronto where she shot her film “Heaven on Earth” and where she has friends like Ajay Virmani (father of actor Vinay Virmani).  She was glad she was in Canada in summer.

Manasvi Noel joins many famous ladies by winning this pageant.  Her Miss India-Canada sisterhood includes names like Kamal Sidhu, Ruby Bhatia, Gita Bali, Rishma Malik, Komila Jagtiani and Neelam Verma.  Neelam Verma later won Miss Canada pageant in 2002 and represented the country in Miss Universe 2002 where she finished in the Top 10.  Ruby Bhatia garnered a lot of fame in India.  She hosted the Miss World pageant in the year 1996.  On the other hand, Preity Zinta joins Bollywood stars like Dev Anand, Zeenat Aman, Hema Malini, Raveena Tandon, Moon Moon Sen and Suniel Shetty who have been guests at the past pageants.
