Simran Kaur Mundi – “The Unsung Heroine”
Simran Kaur Mundi of Punjab was not really a favorite for the Miss India title in the year 2008. The real favorite was Parvathy Omanakuttan of Kerala who had won Miss India South 2008. The video shows Simran’s journey in the Miss India 2008 finals.
However, Simran was definitely noticed by many. She was very tall, slim, fair & looked very sophisticated a number of times. Her video introduction in Femina Miss India 2008 was very good. When she won Miss India Universe 2008 title, she was received with a lot of positivity by pageant fans.
The first big stir created by Simran in Miss Universe 2008 in Vietnam was by her swimming pool pictures in orange bikini. She looked absolutely smashing in them. Her face looked amazing. The next splash was created by her through her saree appearance in welcome dinner. She looked phenomenal. Her look was compared to that of Lara Dutta, due to confidence. Simran’s evening gown portrait was well-received. Her floral gown was praised. Even Ines Ligron went on to praise her dress. She said Miss India is the “face of the pageant”!

Simran’s next success was Top 5 placement in swimsuit competition. To be precise, she was the 2nd Runner-up.
She finished as 1st Runner-up in Ao Dai constume (traditional vietnamese dress). She looked very elegant and graceful. Simran was Top 10 in “Best in National costume” contest. She looked very regal and classy in the Ritu Kumar lehenga. And inspite of so much success, Simran was not there in the Top 15 semi-finalists that year. Even today many Indian fans carry the pain of this in their hearts. 🙂
