Noyonita Lodh (Miss Diva) can win Miss Universe 2014!

MU time! Excitement is at it’s peak: Finally the time of the year has come! Miss World may be the biggest pageant of the world, but Miss Universe is more fun & entertaining, and most people may agree to this. Yes, perhaps Miss World has better pre-finale activities, but Miss Universe is more enjoyable when it comes to the real deal. The year 2014 is perhaps the only year in a long time when no Miss Universe pageant was held. But better late than never! Miss Universe 2014 is to be held on 25th January in Doral Islands, USA. The winner will get the sash of Miss Universe 2014. Hopefully, this year will have 2 Miss Universe pageants! The first winner of 2015 may end up having a short reign, but what the heck – she will become internationally famous! Of course, as fans,we are excited for the pageant. The girls have already left from their countries and beginning to arrive. It is going to be so much fun! Soon the Fadil shots will be out. Hopefully they keep proper interviews like they did in first decade of the current millenium. We will not have to wait much because in about 15 days, the presentation show will take place and then in just 5 days after the presentation show, we will know the new winner! Good times!
India’s Heritage at Miss Universe: India has had a very rich history when it comes to Miss Universe. There were occasional successes for the country before 90s, but the real charade started in 1992. The uber sexy Madhu Sapre within a week of winning her national title created a buzz in Bangkok and easily glided to the Top 3 in finals. People were expecting history to be created but fate was in her favor of Namibia’s Michelle McLean. Still, Madhu has to be credited because she started it all! Since then India has always been a country that delivers at Miss Universe. In 1993, the gorgeous Namrata Shirodkar penetrated the Top 6. The following year Sushmita Sen won the hearts of millions around the world, as she rolled her eyes out in disbelief when her name was called as the Miss Universe. In 1995, Manpreet Brar proved that intelligence & smartness can take you a really long way; she was first runner-up in the succeeding year. Sandhya Chib, Nafisa Joseph, Lymraina D’Souza & Gul Panag continued the success streak of the country by placing among semi-finalists. These were women of wit & beauty. Then came 2000 when Lara Dutta captivated the world with her mesmerizing regality & undeniable personality. She was the unanimous choice of the jury that year. In 2001, Celina Jaitley disproved those who claimed that size does matter – the short yet sexy siren crept in Top 5 with her charm. Neha Dhupia(2002), Tanushree Dutta(2004), Neha Kapur(2006), Puja Gupta(2007) – these beauties kept India in the limelight in their respective years by placing at the pageant. In 2012, Shilpa Singh made it to the Top 15 thanks to her impressive walk & intelligence. Manasi Moghe last year influenced many to smile by making it to the top 10! How angelic she looked during the show! All in all, India can never be under-estimated at Miss Universe.
Noyonita Lodh Wardrobe for Miss Universe

This year Indian fans rejoiced at the selection of Noyonita Lodh from Bangalore as Miss Diva. This young model defeated a really strong group of women for the main title. The show was televised as a series of challenge events. Noyonita Lodh survived all eliminations without being among the “Bottom’ers” (no pun intended). Finally she was chosen as the winner by a panel that included Bollywood star Akshay Kumar. Lara Dutta was the host of the show from Day 1 up to the finale.

Standout look & International Appeal: First thing about Noyonita Lodh is that she is not your conventional Indian beauty. Don’t expect her to be seen in Bollywood in future (I don’t mind being proven wrong). At the same time, she is attractive & stands out. She is modelesque and has a very strong presence. You cannot miss her in a group. There is something mystic & subtly sensational about her looks. Also, her look has the international appeal. This is clear from the support that she is garnering from International beauty pageant fans. American fans in particular are having her in their Top 5’s for Miss Universe since long. Her looks are being compared to those of Ximena Navarette & Alyssa Campanella. Just like Agabni Darego of Nigeria, this lass is being loved by the international masses more than fans from her own country (although she does have a huge fan-base among Indians too). And this is a good thing! The judges of Miss Universe 2014 will be pre-dominantly Americans. 🙂

Rampwalk skills: Noyonita’s prime strength is her excellent rampwalk. She was always appreciated for her amazing skills on the stage in Miss Diva episodes. There was a round where in girls were to walk in a mall in cocktail dresses while few dancers would perform their acts on the path of the girls. Noyonita nailed the round with her confidence. She enjoyed the walk and it was clear to all those who saw it. Next challenge was the swimsuit round. Noyonita is very much in shape, but her points soared up mainly for the presence and ease that she displayed in her walk. Here is one woman who is very comfortable in her skin and has high self-esteem. During the round, she told the judges that she loves to present herself to people. This skill is very highly appreciated at Miss Universe pageant. Many winners like Riyo Mori (2006), Zuleyka Rivera (2007), Dayana Mendoza (2008) had this skill as their main weapon.

Overall package: Recently India’s Koyal Rana, who was considered as the best bet of the country after Priyanka Chopra, had to contend herself with a Top 10 placement. Many wonder that perhaps more energy and confidence could have pushed her into the Top 3. In terms of physical beauty, she is undeniable and looked breath-taking in the finals. Fans of Noyonita Lodh can strike a smile when it comes to this matter. The girl, with her exquisite & unique features, lean & “in shape” body, confident & composed personality & most importantly her excellent ramp-walk skills & energetic presence, definitely falls in the group of delegates who seem to have it all!

The hopes are high. It has been more than 20 years since Sushmita Sen did it. It’s been more than decade since Lara Dutta shined in Cyprus. It’s been more than a decade since India even made it to the Top 5! With a strong & stellar delegate like Noyonita Lodh, the countrymen desire to conquer the crown at Doral Islands on 25th. When the girls will compete on 25th in finals, it would be already 26th January in India. 26th January is the Republic Day of India. It is celebrated with applomb throughout the nation. There cannot be a better present for India on the 65th Republic Day than Miss India winning the coveted title! The competition she will face is strong, but the lady is prepared. The love & encouragement of gazillions is her with. She can very well accomplish the dream – SHE CAN BE THE THIRD MISS UNIVERSE OF HER COUNTRY! It is about time.
