Final Hotpicks: Miss Grand International 2014

Prelim of Miss Grand International just ended last night and to our amazement, the show was beautifully produced to make it look world class pageant. At one end, Miss Universe is bound to postponed their pageant and at another end, a new emerging pageant ‘Miss Grand International’ is dominating and taking the lead for the fans who were habituated to see quality of Miss Universe Production. We won’t be surprised if soon Miss Grand International takes over the spot from Miss Universe and become the leader in pageant along with Miss World. The finale is scheduled tomorrow where the 85 stunners will brought down to just 20, who then will compete in Swimsuit round, evening gown round and Final question answer round to determine the ultimate winner. There shall be eliminations between every round.

Our beauty council had hard time to arrive at final 20, which justifies the delay we had in releasing the hotpicks. Here we present our Top 20 for the quest of crown of Miss Grand International. Let’s see how accurate we are post finale.

Expert’s Review:

20. Hungary:

To be honest, we are not entirely sure about her. But MGI org seems to like her, can’t deny that she has the presence and the right projection but she is not that convincing to us and top 20 for her would be the best.

19. Myanmar:

Beauty wise she is OK, good gown, decent performance in both evening gown and swimsuit. One thing which will put her through is the online voting. She or Philippines could take this spot. But overall we prefer Myanmar.

18. Puerto Rico:

Prelim performance was kind of lackluster, but she has undeniably one of the prettiest face in the competition. According to us, a back to back is not possible for Puerto Rico this year and we would be very surprised if she makes the top 10 let alone top 5.

17. Peru:

Another Latina who did not fail to impress. In our opinion she is not the strongest or the prettiest but there is something about her performance which was unique enough to keep her in.

16. Indonesia:

 

This girl knows her strong points and its her projection and her catwalk skills. Talk about being fierce is swimsuit and classy in evening gown., she knows what she doing.

15. Nepal:

She is certainly a dark horse, initially wasn’t in our list but after seeing her performance in the prelims, we think she would certainly be a worthy semifinalist.

14. USA:

She looks like plastic surgery gone wrong on Olivia Culpo. Facially not the best and certainly not our cup of tea but she gave a very strong performance in both evening Gown and Swimsuit which is very unlikely of a typical Miss USA.

13. Sweden:

Europe always has its set of demure girls who convey more through their beauty. And Sweden is one such gorgeous European belle. Her Gorgeous looks and commendable performance in the prelims will certainly be enough to make her cross the first hurdle.

12. Canada:

Wow, this girl knows to work it and she is a treat to the eyes. Her unconventional looks may not be everyone’s cup of tea but she surely makes that up with her strong catwalk skills. Looking forward to see her in the semifinals.

11. Poland:

Another pretty European on the list and she certainly did a swell job. Good gown- yes, good catwalk skills – yes, Good face – yes. Should make the top 20 on these basis.

10. Venezuela:

Honestly, we are always on the fence when it comes to Venezuela. She gave an average performance in the prelims and was clearly outshone by her Latin compatriots. Although sash factor is not considered at MGI, one simply cannot ignore Venezuela. They know how to make ugly beautiful.

9. India:

What a gown!!! It looks like a good piece of work and did I mention that she worked it well? Her swimsuit performance was also great and she is one of the prettiest Asians after Thailand. She has got a billion fans supporting her, a top 10 at the moment is perfect.

8. Haiti:

Usually Haiti is not a name synonymous with strong powerful pageant nation of the Caribbean but hey this girl defies those notions. Haiti gives you the girl next door vibes who does everything to please your pageant eyes.

7. Japan:

When she started walking we just recalled Riyo Mori. This girl is a runway diva and she can give all Latinas a run for their money. Not the best looking girl but she is more than making up for that in other areas where she can totally shine.

6. Ethiopia:

Leading in African zone is Miss Ethiopia. Usually one does not see an African do twirls and give intense seductive looks but this girl is on fire. She is not 100% there yet but she certainly did enough that will place her in the semifinals. Wouldn’t be surprised if this girl finishes above the place we allotted her.

5. Mexico:

Queen of twirls is what we like to call her and she does them at ease. Along with Colombia, Mexico is one of the strongest Latin girls. Her face is gorgeous and her tall figure will certainly take her places.

4. Albania:

She opened both the evening gown and the swimsuit rounds and yes she them with a bang. Her sleek black hair, her gorgeous face and a toned body along with her energetic performance on the stage is proof enough that this girl will convincingly make the top 5.

2nd Runner Up- Russia:

If looks could kill, then Miss Russia would certainly leave you dead. In our opinion the most beautiful girl in Miss Grand this year and yes she can strut and twirl and snap and turn. There is no stopping this girl and seems to be topping in every prediction list out there.

1st Runner up-Thailand:

Many will say that home delegate always makes the cut even though they are not deserving, but in Thailand’s case even if the pageant was held outside, she would have made the cut. Such is her presence. She is blessed with a beautiful face and body. But have a feeling that the organizers will not crown her since the pageant is in its second year only and crowning a home delegate would be a suicide move.

Winner: Colombia:

Twirls, snap and turn, Hair flips you name it all and she got all the tricks in the pageant book that makes her an absolute stand out in the preliminaries. Also one of the best faces of the competition, this girl has everything going on her side.

 

Bubbling Up: Israel, Australia, France, Costa Rica, Chile
