Martrecia Cherisse Alleyne crowned Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago 2018

Martrecia Cherisse Alleyne was crowned as the winner of Miss Universe Trinidad & Tobago last Saturday. She will now represent Trinidad & Tobago at Miss Universe 2018. Martrecia succeeds Yvonne Clarke as the new Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago. Interestingly, she was also the first runner-up to Yvonne last year at Miss Universe Trinidad & Tobago 2017.

Martrecia Alleyne is a returning National Scholar and former Valedictorian for the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. Martrecia is interested in using her title to promote the social causes of bringing awareness to Alzheimer and assist by forming support groups for those affected by the disease. She also wish to promote the advocacy of adoption amongst people of Trinidad and Tobago. The country has won Miss Universe twice in past, first being Janelle Commissiong, Miss Universe 1977 and second being, Wendy Fitzwilliam,  Miss Universe 1998.
