Lillian Ericah Maraule is crowned as Miss Universe Tanzania 2017 and will represent Tanzania at Las Vegas in the United States of America next month. She succeeds Jihan Dimack as Miss Universe Tanzania. First runner up is Anitha Fred and second runner up is Melody Tryphone. Anitha will compete at Miss Earth 2018 and Melody may compete in next Miss International edition.

Miss Universe Tanzania was instituted in 2007. The first winner Flaviana Matata created a stir in Miss Universe 2007. Apart from being one of the most talked about contestants in the pageant due to her bald look and athletic presence, she also made it to Top 10 in the finals. In fact she finished 6th in the finals. Apart from Flaviana, no other MUT winner has found much success in Miss Universe. Will Lillian break the chain of non-placements?
