Lauren Howe defeated 64 other contestants to win the crown of Miss Universe Canada 2017. Grand finale of Miss Universe Canada 2017 took place on Saturday,October 7th at the Metro Toronto Convention Center. Miss Universe Canada 2016, Siera Bearchell crowned Lauren as her successor. Lauren Howe will represent Canada at the 66th Miss Universe pageant which will take place on November 26th at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas,Nevada.

This blonde beauty is a actress, model, sports presenter & a entrepreneur. Lauren hails from the city of Toronto and has completed her degree in industrial engineering from the University of Toronto. Lauren has traveled to countries like India,Peru ,Nicaragua, Ghana. Lauren traveled to the slums of Mumbai where she helped in building sanitation facilities that use water recycling mechanism to create grey water and biogas. This self proclaimed geek has photographed the Norwegian Arctic under the guidance of a National Geographic photographer. Lauren has played provincial field hockey in her university. Lauren was second runner-up at the Miss Universe Canada 2014.

Canada at the Miss Universe Pageant:
Canada started competing at the Miss Universe pageant in 1952 Miss Toronto Organization was responsible to send delegates to the Miss Universe pageant till the year 1958. Canada has produced two Miss Universe winners Karen Dianne Baldwin won the crown in the year 1982 and Natalie Glebova was Miss Universe 2005. In 1981 Dominique Dufour won first runner-up title. Miss Canada 1995 Lana Buchberger was second runner-up at the 1995 edition of the Miss Universe pageant five years later Kim Yee bagged the third runner-up crown at Miss Universe 2000. In 2016 Siera Bearchell broke Canada’s 10 year old non-placement streak and made it to top 9 of the pageant.
