The Miss Universe Organization have just announced that 66th edition of the pageant will be held on Nov 26,2017 at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas,Nevada. Analyzing the history of Miss Universe in Las Vegas, the one country which has 100% placement record at this venue is Mexico. Not even the home country USA or pageant powerhouse Venezuela were about to achieve this feat. We all know that Mexico has won the crown 2 times and both of those wins were at Las Vegas! Lets go through the Mexican delegates at Las Vegas!
1991: The pageant held for the first time in Las Vegas was in 1991. Lupita Jones won the first Crown for Mexico. She is now the National Director of Miss Universe Mexico.
1996: Again Las Vegas hosted the pageant. Mexico was represented by Vanessa Guzman who was among one of the 6 finalists. There is an interesting fact about her that When she was asked about “Who is the greatest woman ever lived” ? in her Top 6 Q&A by Cecilia Bolocoo ( Miss Universe 1987 ) , She said “Indira Gandhi” Isn’t it amazing that being a Mexican her ideal is an Indian Woman? She was one of the heavy favorites that edition but couldn’t win!
2010: For the third time, pageant was held in 2010. Ximena Navaratte won the second crown for Mexico. She was very well received by pageant fans.
2012: Miss Universe came back to LV in 2012 when Mexico’s Karina Gonzales was able to bring a Top 10 placement for Mexico after a year of non-placement ( Ximena Navaratte was one of the judges that night ).
2015: For the last time the pageant was held in Las Vegas, Wendy Esparanza could make it to Top 15. Her placement came as a shock because although she was among the pre-arrival favorites, she totally lost her way during the pageant. Despite that she made the first cut. Many believe that its the Huge Mexican support in Las Vegas worked for her.
Now that the pageant is back to Las Vegas, it will bring a smile on the current Mexico Dennis Franco’s face because she knew that it will be like a second home to her. Mexico will have a huge support this year at Planet Hollywood. Do you think Mexico can win their Third MU Crown in Las Vegas?? Only time will tell!
