Catalina Caceres was crowned as the winner of Miss Universe Chile 2016. She will now represent her country at Miss Universe 2016 coming January in Philippines. Catalina Caceres is 26 years old and stands 5’9″ tall. She succeeds Maria Belen Jerez Spuler as the new Miss Universe Chile.

Meet the Contestants: Miss Universe 2016

Catalina is not new to pageant world. She previously competed as Neustra Belleza Chile 2014 where she won the title. Later on she also won Miss Earth Chile 2014 and competed at Miss Earth 2014, where she failed to penetrate to Top 16. Later on she won, Miss Eco Chile 2015 and competed at Miss Eco 2015 pageant. She placed fourth at the Miss Eco 2015 pageant and also won the Best in National Costume award.

The Irony at Miss Universe Chile 2016 Pageant

This year 3 former Miss Earth Chile competed for the title of Miss Universe Chile 2016. They were Natalia Lermanda Margarit (2013), Catalina Caceres(2014) , Natividad Leiva (2015). Apparently Lermanda placed in Top 16 and Natividad placed in Top 8 at Miss Earth in their respective years. Only Catalina was left out of Top 16 in finale at Miss Earth 2014. Later on when all 3 competed, Catalina won the main title where as Natividad placed as 1st runner up and Lermanda failed to place in Top 8 at Miss Universe Chile. This took a complete U-turn to what they perform at their previous international pageant. Isn’t it ironical?
