Miss Universe Thailand 2016: Chalita Suansane
Chalita Suansane has been chosen as Miss Universe Thailand 2016. She will represent Thailand in Miss Universe 2016 which is rumored to be held in the Philippines in January 2017. She succeeds Aniporn Chalermburanawong as Miss Universe Thailand winner.
Surprisingly, Chalita Suansane was not the favorite to win the pageant. The favorite was Kusuma who did not make it to the Top 5. Chalita is from Samut Prakan. She has studied Microbiology from Mahasarakham University.
Thailand has a good record in Miss Universe pageant. In 2015 itself, Miss Thailand was a Top 10 finalist and also won “Best in National Costume”. Since 2000, Thailand has placed three times in total. Apart from 2015, Thailand also placed in 2006 and 2007. The country has won Miss Universe pageant twice – first in 1965 with Apsara Hongsakula and in 1988 with Porntip Nakhirunkanok. Expectations will be high from Chalita Suansane since Thailand has a very big number of Miss Universe fans.
