Miss World 2016 will be the 66th edition of the Miss World pageant. More than 120 countries and territories are expected to join the pageant.The pageant will take place on Tuesday 19th December 2016 in Washington D.C. The venue for the pageant hasn’t been revealed yet.Miss World 2015,Mireia Lalaguna Royo of Spain will crown her successor at the end of the event. The Miss World contestants have to secure their place in the finals by competing in various challenger events such as sports, talent, Top Model, Multimedia and the most important event is the Beauty with the Purpose which is the core essence of the Miss World pageant.
Eric Morley founded the Miss World pageant in 1951, it is the oldest and biggest beauty pageant in the world. After the untimely death of Eric Morley his wife Julia Morley runs the Miss World Organization. Kiki Håkansson from Sweden was the first Miss World winner in 1951. Venezuela has six Miss World crown the highest by any country followed by India who has managed to win five Miss World titles. Mireia Lalguna Royo of Spain is the current title holder she was crowned in Sanya, China on 19th December 2015.
