Yasmin Daji wore a traditional black saree for Evening Gown round of Miss Universe 1966, which suits more to National Costume round. However, she impressed the judges with her simplicity and beauty that she could manage to find 4th Place in the competition.

2001: Minka Alagič, Slovenia

Minka Alagic was the first ever Miss Slovenia to compete in Miss Universe (in 2001). She wore a weird flying-mongoose-inspired evening gown in three primary colors combination (violet(blue)-yellow and red). This gown hurts our eyes so much that we don’t even wish to see this for a National Costume round. It’s no surprise that she didn’t place with such creation of gown.

2003: Miyako Miyazaki, Japan

Miyako went on to experimenting mode where she wore a two piece evening gown with top being a bikini piece and lower in plain white with fur in the end, the length was not even sufficient. Adding to this, she wore a long white coat for first half of the round. No matter how different this combination was, it worked out extremely well for her. In fact, many believed that she was the queen of the night. Her high fashioned gown became an instant pick of pageant experts in the best evening gown category. She finished 5th in the competition.

2005: Yukari Kuzuya, Japan

Experimentation went too deep into the blood of Japan that they ended up with anything but an evening gown in 2005. Don’t know how to describe this shiny piece of dress but it didn’t work in the end and became the mock point of the contest. Many said that Ines Ligron wanted her contestants to pick something very unique so as to make a mark in the pageant, she wasn’t worried whether her girls get placement or not, all she wanted is to be highlighted and we guess she did for sure.

2010: Tang Wen, China

Seems that China confused Evening Gown round with National Costume. The dress was completely forgettable and so was the performance by the delegate.
