As per reports, Madison Berrios has been appointed by Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico Organisation to compete in Miss Earth 2016 since Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico 2016 will be held later this year.

By far, Puerto Rico has not won Miss Earth title.  The highest placement of the country was in Miss Earth 2010 when Yeidy Bosques from Mayaguez was 3rd runner-up (Miss Earth Fire).  Puerto Rico also cracked Top 8 in Miss Earth 2005 with Vanessa De Roide Toledo from Carolina.  She won ‘Best in Long Gown’ title also.  The country has participated in 12 of the 15 editions of the pageant.  Miss Earth 2015 saw non-participation from Puerto Rico.  Overall, the record of pageant powerhouse Puerto Rico is dim at Miss Earth.  But they do well at other pageants.  In Miss Universe, Puerto Rico has won 5 times!  Puerto Rican beauties have been runner-ups for 6 times.  In all they have placed 20 times with 9 special awards.  In Miss World, the country has one crown with two 2nd runner-up placements.  In all, they have 14 placements in Miss World with one Beach Beauty title and two Miss World Caribbean titles.  Puerto Rico has won Miss International title twice.  Will Madison Berrios bring glory to Puerto Rico in Miss Earth 2016?  Time will tell.
