26 year old Desiree Williams from Newport news bagged the title of Miss Virginia USA 2016. Desiree will represent the state of Virginia at Miss USA 2016 Pageant next year. The event was hosted by Miss Virginia 2007 Lauren Barnette and actor Michael Copon. Delesia Watson bagged the first runner up crown where as Hannah Uhlig was crowned as the second runner up. In the same event Gracyn Blackmore bagged Miss Teen Virginia USA 2016 she will represent the state of Virginia at Miss Teen USA 2016 pageant. Desiree was crowned bu the outgoing queen Miss Virginia USA 2015 Laura Puleo.
Virginia won two Miss USA crowns back to back Wendy Dascomb Miss USA 1969 and Deborah Shelton Miss USA 1970. It also has two first runner up crowns (1954 &1994) and one second runner up crown (2010). The state also has one foruth runner up crown(1977). Virginia has made it to the semi finals 16 times. It has won six Miss Photogenic awards (19711975,1978,1979,1981,1982,1987,1992). Patricia Southall Miss Virginia USA 1994 bagged to awards at Miss USA 1994 best in Swimsuit title and Miss Photogenic. Kimberly Nicewonder is the only recipient of Miss Congeniality from Virginia.

26 year old Desiree is originally from Peachtree City, Georgia but she lives in Newport news,Virginia. She is studying Physical Therapy program(DPT) at Hampton University she has an undergraduate degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from the same university. Desiree is not new to pageant world. She first participated in pageants from her university she was Miss Hampton University 2011. She won Miss Virginia Pageant and represented her state at Miss America 2014 where she failed to make the first cut. SHe tried her luck at Miss Virginia USA 2015 but she had to settle for the first runner up crown.
