Height is definitely one of the qualities that are appreciated and seeked in beauty queens.  Height often helps one look more elegant and graceful.  It adds magnificence to the look.  It helps the girl stands out in the sea of beauties.  Plus height is generally a big plus among models.  No wonder most of the international beauty pageant winners are relatively taller than normal women!  So who is the tallest Miss Universe winner of all time?

Miss Universe 1992, Michelle McLean (Miss Namibia) – 1.83 m

Michelle McLean was only second woman in the history to represent Independent Namibia in Miss Universe.  At 6 feet, she was clearly a standout.  However, since her sash is weak, no one expected her to make it so far. The favorites that year were the traditional powerhouses – Colombia, USA & Venezuela.  But yes, Michelle was definitely considered a strong delegate since she had finished 5th in Miss World 1991.  She was second in the preliminary contest only after Miss Venezuela Carolina Izsak.  In the finals, she was in the Top 5 for swimsuit, evening and interview rounds.  Overall she was 4th when Top 6 was announced.  She gave very good answers in the last 2 rounds and thus won the Miss Universe crown.  She has been quite active after Miss Universe stint.  She is one of the few Miss Universe winners with height of 6 ft, thus making her one of the tallest Miss Universe beauties.

 Miss Universe 1998, Wendy Fitzwilliam (Miss Trinidad & Tobago) – 1.83 m

Wendy Fitzwilliam is the second Miss Trinidad & Tobago to win the title of Miss Universe.  The first was Janelle Commisiong who the Miss Universe 1977 title.  Wendy also won the ‘Best National costume title.  She had worn a beautiful carnival costume in the round.  Throughout the pageant, Wendy stood out because of her height and elegance.  Her only major competition was Veruska Ramirez (Miss Venezuela 1997) who managed to give her a tough fight even in finals.  Wendy placed 1st in all rounds except the swimsuit competition which was won by Veruska.  In the last round, Veruska gave a better answer but Wendy won the title because of strong overall performance.  Anyone who saw the pageant will agree that it was her height and elegance that helped her win.  At 6 feet, she is one of the tallest Miss Universe winners!

Miss Universe 2003, Amelia Vega (Miss Dominican Republic) – 1.85 m

Just like Wendy Fitzwilliam, Amelia Vega won the Best National Costume award in Miss Universe 2003.  She aced the evening gown round in a glittering gown which she carried with a lot of confidence.  At just 18, she was very tall and hence aced the swimsuit competition too.  Her final answer was nice, though not outstanding.  But her overall performance was strong enough to make her the winner.  She is one of the youngest Miss Universe winners and at 6 ft 1 in, she is the tallest Miss Universe winner of all-time!

Thus, Michelle McLean, Wendy Fitzwilliam and Amelia Vega are  the only Miss Universe winners with height of 6 ft or above and thus, the tallest Miss Universe winners of all-time!
